Chance Parenting Assessment Framework (CPAF)

In our Chance Parenting Assessment Framework (CPAF), we have integrated the principles of Knowledge, Quality, and Consistency (KQC) alongside a deep focus on 'Motivation to Change'. Our in-house framework, specifically developed to assess parents, is finely tuned to align with the 'Framework for Assessing Children in Need and Their Families'.

A key aspect of our approach is the incorporation of a trauma-informed methodology, which means that our assessments are not just about observing and recording behaviours or skills; they are about understanding past traumas' deeper, often hidden impacts on parenting abilities. Our team is trained to recognise signs of trauma and its influence on a parent's ability to care for and nurture their child. We can provide more empathetic, practical support and guidance by acknowledging and addressing these underlying issues.

This trauma-informed approach allows us to create a safe, supportive environment where parents feel understood and respected. It also enables us to tailor interventions to change behaviour and empower parents. In doing so, we can promote a more profound and lasting transformation, benefiting both the parents and children.

Community and Post-Assessment Support

Recognising that parenting journeys continue beyond residential assessments, we offer:

Step-Down Programme

Our step-down offer provides a gradual transition from intensive assessment to independent living, allowing parents to demonstrate their sustained ability to care for their child, with ongoing support.

Post Assessment & Community Support

For families transitioning back home, we offer continued support in their familiar environment, ensuring consistency and stability in their parenting journey.

CHANCE T.O.Ps (Teaching, Observing, and Practising) Programme

The TOPs programme at Chance Family Assessment Centre is a comprehensive, hands-on initiative designed to equip parents with essential practical skills. Here are some key components and practical skills in one-to-one or small group sessions that are included in the programme:

  • Cooking and Nutrition (culturally focus if needed or preferred)

  • Financial Management

  • Child Safety and First Aid

  • Hygiene and Health

  • Effective Communication

  • 6.Routine Setting

  • 7. Parental Self-Care

  • 8. Positive Discipline Techniques
